Phlebotomy technicians draw blood from patients in order for it be analyzed by the laboratory technicians that help the physician in the diagnostic process.
A phlebotomist is a support staff health care professional trained to collect samples of blood from patients to be analyzed by laboratory professionals for diagnostic purposes, transfusions, or donation. As a phlebotomy technician, you will provide valuable support to the health care team and treat your patients with the utmost professionalism. Students at Universal Healthcare Careers College get the knowledge and skills in all phases of the health care industry and prepare graduates to work alongside licensed professionals to provide total health care. Our Phlebotomy Technician Program is approved by the Laboratory Field Services of the California Department of Public Health.
Three types of certifications are recognized by LFS: Limited Phlebotomy Technician, Certified Phlebotomy Technicians 1 and 2. This program is approved to qualify our graduates for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 national examination. Additional requirements may apply to become licensed.

Training requirements per California laws and regulations is to complete 40 hours of basic and advanced didactic (classroom) phlebotomy training from a phlebotomy program accredited by the California Department of Public Health which our program is accredited by LFS. You must also complete your clinical requirements in a clinical setting approved by LFS.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 are typically employed in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, or blood banks.
